Ahoy, Meaties! This week, we return to Thunderbird Community Centre, 2311 Cassiar St., Vancouver, from 5 to 7 pm.
Join us to learn roller skating skills and non-contact roller derby drills. This session is $7, and all levels are welcome. If you are a beginner, we’ll help you get going and learn to stop safely. If you are an expert skater, we’ll keep it interesting with games and challenging drill variations.
Except for August 25 (the TCRG Semi-Finals) and September 8 (the TCRG Finals), Raw Meat meets at Thunderbird from 5 to 7 every Saturday all fall and winter. Sessions are drop-in. Just bring your skates, all of your safety gear, and your lovely self. Just leave the ass-hats at home. We only have two rules at Raw Meat: 1. Be safe, 2. Don’t be an asshat.
PLEASE NOTE: You must have white or light coloured, non-marking toe stops, and please tape your knee pads with white or light hockey tape (no shiny tape). This is to protect the floors at Thunderbird.
Morning Outdoor Skates Continue!
As long as the weather allows, Raw Meat skaters will also continue to meet up at 10 AM on Saturdays at Queen Elizabeth Park at the hockey box. If you are planning to try out for the TCRG this fall, do try to come out and practice your basic skills on asphalt, as the TCRG tryouts are on an asphalt surface. This is not a formal session, just an informal meet-up, so please play nice with whoever else might be trying to use the hockey box too.
Happy Skating, everyone!
