Raw Meat Vancouver Roller Skating

August 22: Try, Try Again!

Aug. 22 is our last session of the year at RCCC! Join us! Hello, Meaties!

August 22 is our last session of the year at Royal City Curling Club, so be sure to come out and enjoy one last roller skate on the beautiful, beautiful floor before it gets iced over for the winter.

After this Saturday, Raw Meat will take a two-week break, and then we’re back on September 12, from 5 to 7 PM at Thunderbird Community Centre, 2311 Cassiar St., Vancouver. It’s right near Rupert Skytrain Station. To skate at Thunderbird, all skaters must have white or light non-marking toe stops, and cover knee pads with vertical strips of tape or felt.

For our last skate of the year this Saturday, our special guest coach Percy Riot will be putting you through your paces as she leads mock tryouts. She’ll run you through the WFTDA basic skills and various drills you’ll commonly see at roller derby league tryouts. This will help you gain confidence in your skills, and highlight if there is anything you need to work on in the next few weeks.

New to roller skates? Never fear! You’ll be able to follow along at your own pace, and this will be a fabulous introduction to the basics that you’ll learn over the coming months at Raw Meat Roller Skating.

If you are cracker-jack league skater, come on by! We’d love to have a few people help to give feedback to the newer skaters. If you are interested in coming to help give feedback, please make a note in the comments, and Percy will connect with you.

If you are interested in trying out for a local league, check out the Terminal City Rollergirls or the Mainland Misfits.
