Join us Saturday, Oct. 23, 8 to 10 PM for the latest edition of Raw Meat Roller Skating! There will be drills! And thrills! Hopefully, no spills!
Look for some fun roller skating/roller derby drills with cones, jumping, proximity, agility, endurance, and more. Everyone is welcome, from beginner to ref to champion derby player.
We meet at Thunderbird Community Centre, 2311 Cassiar St., near Rupert Skytrain station. Full safety gear (helmet, mouth guard, and wrist, elbow and knee pads) is required. Each skate is $5 to 7, depending on attendance.
Please put your name on your helmet with tape, so we can all get to know each other. If you have any CDs you would like to play, bring those too. Coach Jeremy is a particular fan of Bon Jovi.
Looking forward, the next few skates are:
Oct. 30, 7 to 9 (and head out from practice in your authentic derby-girl Halloween costume)
Nov. 6, 7 to 9 (Members of PFM, a derby-training group from Seattle, will be in attendance! More details will come soon!)
On November 13 and following, our skate time returns to 5 to 7 PM.
If you are curious about roller skating, please join us! You are welcome to come watch a session if you don’t have your skates yet. If you are still unsure if roller skating is for you, visit Central City Arena, just outside of Surrey Central Skytrain station, for their public skates (Friday and Saturday nights, 7 to 9). You can rent roller skates for just $3, and members of Raw Meat are usually there on Friday nights from 7 to 9. Say hi!
See you Saturday!
