Dec. 12: The 12 Days of (Derby) Christmas
On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:
12 skaters skating
11 blockers blocking
10 fans a clapping
9 shiny bearings
8 wheels a spinning
7 jammers jamming
6 whistles blowing
5 local beers
4 gaterades
3 fresh socks
2 elbow pads
and a promise to be a referee
Well, everyone, it’s our penultimate roller skating session of 2015! Where’d the year go? There’s just two chances left to skate with us this year, so be sure to join us Dec. 12 and Dec. 19. It’s the perfect chance to get a head start on your resolution to learn to skate in 2016. And hey, if you didn’t quite get around to 2015’s resolution, it’s not too late.
There are NO SESSIONS on December 26 or January 2, but we’re back on January 9, continuing on through the winter from 5-7 every Saturday at Thunderbird Community Centre, 2311 Cassiar St.
At Raw Meat Vancouver Roller Skating, you’ll learn to roller skate, roller-derby style. You’ll learn all the basic (and not-so-basic) skills you’ll need to try out for a league. Not interested in roller derby? That’s ok too! You’ll learn the skills you’ll need to skate the seawall in style. We cover a variety of skills in every session, including stops, falls, skating form, agility, jumps, pace lines, weaving, transitions, backwards skating, and much, much more. Whether you are a brand-new skater or an expert just looking for more time on wheels, you are welcome at Raw Meat.
All skaters need to have roller skates, and all safety gear: helmet, mouth guard, and wrist, elbow and knee pads. Your toe stoppers must be white or light, and please cover black knee pads with strips of white tape. This is at the request of our venue, to avoid marking the floors. Our sessions are $7, and exact change is appreciated.
See you Saturday!
